The United Way- Metropolitan Dallas Conducts its First Health Innovation Technology Challenge, and GreenLight VitalSign 6 is a Winner

Excerpt from United Way - Metropolitan Dallas: PREVIEW THE INCREDIBLE INNOVATIONS FROM OUR HEALTH INNOVATION TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE FINALISTS

United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is a social change organization that unites the community to create opportunity and access for all North Texans to thrive, challenging the systemic barriers associated with race. Together with our committed change-seekers, we are mobilizing a movement for lasting change, to ensure all our neighbors have access to education, income and health—the building blocks of opportunity.

Over the last 18 months, the pandemic has brought unprecedented attention to the topic of health. At United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, health is one of our focus areas, because it’s foundational for a person’s success in every area of their life. Health, along with education and income, truly is one of the building blocks of opportunity.

That’s why we held our first-ever Health Innovation Technology Challenge, presented by AT&T, where we identified, elevated and activated game-changing solutions to some of our region’s biggest health challenges. Throughout the months of this social innovation competition, our 10 finalists have showcased their creative, technology-fueled approaches for increasing access to preventive pediatric care and improving social/emotional wellness and mental health.

The competition culminated on Oct. 19, when the winners of $1 million in prize funding was issued to help activate these health solutions across our region. The virtual event also included a lineup of local health care leaders who offered their insights into some of the most pressing challenges—and the most exciting opportunities—around health in North Texas.
